The Sweetheart Waltz is a modern sequence dance by an unknown composer. It is a 16 bar dance (see paragraph numbers) in the usual 3/4 waltz time and should be danced to a 1-2-3 rhythm to music at a tempo of 30 beats per minute. We commence the dance in normal ballroom hold with the man facing and the lady backing the line of dance. Only the man’s steps are described here, with the Lady dancing as a counterpart, unless otherwise stated – in which case, the lady’s steps are in italics.
Technique Tips: The man lowers (bends his legs) slightly and uses “heel leads” to step forward; backward steps are drawn with his toe (again, lowering himself) and falling back onto his heel. Whenever the man or lady bring their feet together in a continuing movement, they should rise up onto their toes.
If the detailed description below is too technical, feel free to scroll down to watch a video presentation of the Sweetheart Waltz.
The Remembrance Waltz is a 32 bar modern sequence dance. The dance script was composed by Joy Gullick-Holmes in 1996 and dedicated to her late husband, Jack. It should be danced to a 3/4 rhythm and to music at 52 bars per minute. The dance commences in open extended hold with both partners facing down the line of dance. Here we mainly describe the man’s steps on the assumption that the lady will dance as a counterpart. If the lady is meant to dance independently of the man at any point, her steps will be described in italics.
Technique Tips:- The man lowers (bends) his legs slightly and uses “heel leads” to step forward. Backward steps are drawn with his toe (again, lowering himself) coming back onto his heel. Whenever they bring their feet together in a continuing sideways movement (e.g. chasse) both man and lady should rise up onto their toes.

The Serenade Waltz is a modern sequence dance. The dance script was composed by Jack Kennedy in 1943. It is a 32 bar dance (see paragraph numbers) in the usual 3/4 waltz time and should be danced to a 1-2-3 rhythm to music at a tempo of 46 bars per minute. We commence the dance in Open Hold with the man facing and the lady backing line of dance. The Lady should be slightly to the left of the man so that he is outside his partner. Only the man’s steps are described here, with the Lady dancing as a counterpart, unless otherwise stated – in which case, the lady’s steps are in italics.
The man lowers (bends his legs) slightly and uses “heel leads” to step forward; backward steps are drawn with his toe (again, lowering himself) and whenever they bring their feet together in a sideways movement, both man and lady should rise up onto their toes, then lower. This is called “rise and fall”. If you find yourself confused with all the technical terms, you can skip to a video presentation of the dance below.

The Watkins Waltz is a modern sequence dance. The dance script was composed by Graham and Avril Watkins in 2010. It is a 16 bar dance (see paragraph numbers) in the usual 3/4 waltz time and should be danced to a 1-2-3 rhythm to music at a tempo of 30 beats per minute. We commence the dance in normal ballroom hold with the man facing and the lady backing diagonal-to-centre. Only the man’s steps are described here, with the Lady dancing as a counterpart, unless otherwise stated – in which case, the lady’s steps are in italics.
The man lowers (bends his legs) slightly and uses “heel leads” to step forward; backward steps are drawn with his toe (again, lowering himself) and whenever he brings his feet together both man and lady should rise up onto their toes. If you find yourself confused with all the technical terms, you can skip to a video presentation of the dance below.

The Anniversary Waltz is a sequence dance by an unknown composer. The original manuscript was written using “Old Time” terminology. It is a 32 bar dance (see paragraph numbers) in the usual 3/4 waltz time and should be danced to a 1-2-3 rhythm to music at a tempo of 48/54 bars per minute.
We commence the dance in open extended hold with both man and lady facing the line of dance. Only the man’s steps are described here, with the Lady dancing as a counterpart, unless otherwise stated – in which case, the lady’s steps are in italics.

Technique Tip:-
The man lowers (bends his legs) slightly and uses “heel leads” to step forward; backward steps are drawn with his toe (again, lowering himself) and whenever he brings his feet together both man and lady should rise up onto their toes then lower to change weight.
Anniversary Waltz Dance Steps
Notes from the original manuscript.
In bars 7 to 8, following the progressive Half Natural Turn, the spins of left foot and right foot to face the wall. This makes 1 and 1/2 turns over the two bars, and is very effective. In bars 17 to 20, the Waltz Square is danced as follows – side left foot, close right foot to left foot, back left foot brushing right foot to left food, side right foot, close left foot to right foot, forward right foot brushing left foot to right foot. On the last point in bar 24, the man turns to face the wall, lady facing centre. Over bars 25 to 28, the pas Glissades and pas glisses are the danced to the left down line of dance, and right against line of dance.

The Dominic Waltz is a modern sequence dance and was scripted by Flo and Jack Howard in 1985. It is a 16 bar dance (see paragraph numbers) in the usual 3/4 waltz time and should be danced to a 1-2-3 rhythm to music at a tempo of 31 beats per minute. We commence the dance in ballroom hold with the man facing and the lady backing diagonal to wall. Both man and lady’s steps are provided below, the lady’s being in italics.
The man lowers (bends his legs) slightly and uses “heel leads” to step forward; backward steps are drawn with his toe (again, lowering himself) and when he brings his feet together both man and lady should rise up onto their toes. If anyone can offer a video presentation of the dance it would help readers greatly.
Please also bear in mind that all waltz sequences are about correct angles in relation to the line of dance.

The Autumn Mist Waltz is a modern sequence dance and was composed by Audrey Bromage and Michelle Webster in 1989.
